Birds of Prey Charity Workshop
with Chris Weston
In aid of Animals on the Edge
Saturday, 22nd September 2012
12:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Old Warden, near Bedford
Following the success of last year’s Birds of Prey charity workshop, professional wildlife photographer Chris Weston is holding a new event on 22nd September, with all profits being donated to the Animals on the Edge Charity. Join him photographing British and international birds of prey, including barn owls, tawny owls, eagles and hawks.
The location is ideally suited to capturing both static shots in beautiful, natural settings and amazing action shots of birds in free flight. Comprehensive instruction is provided throughout the day to ensure you capture compelling images.
After the photographic sessions, Chris Weston will present a short AV film based on images from the Animals on the Edge project, followed by an evening BBQ.
Highlights
- Rare British and international raptors
- Natural settings and habitats
- Amazing flight shots
- Imaginative static settings
- Learn the secrets to professional-looking shots
- Learn the skills for brilliant action shots
- Evening BBQ and photo presentation
Agenda
The day begins with a 2-hour session photographing various birds of prey in natural, static settings in the nearby woodland. As well as ivy-covered tree stumps, mossy rocks and natural perches, there is also a selection of props, such as a mock thatch, to create realistic and imaginative images.
The afternoon continues with a further 2-hour session photographing birds in free flight, including barn owls, eagle owls, hawks and eagles. During this session you will have ample opportunity to capture images from a range of angles using trusted techniques.
During both sessions, Chris Weston will be on hand to pass on his knowledge and expertise in capturing compelling wildlife images, making sure you capture the images you’ve come to get.
In the evening, Chris will present a 30-minute AV film of photographs taken from the Animals on the Edge wildlife conservation project, which will be followed by a BBQ.
The course is suitable for all abilities from novice to advanced amateur. A DSLR camera and a lens or lenses is essential for this course.
2011 Workshop feedback
“A huge ‘thank you’ for arranging such a fantastic workshop. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the course and came away with some very nice images, and plenty of ideas and enthusiasm for more.”
“Please pass on my thanks to Chris for a very enjoyable day on Saturday. I have an astonishing 70 sharp ‘keepers’ of birds in flight from the day and well over 250 in total.”
“I’d have no hesitation recommending your courses to anyone interested in improving their photography at any level. Some of the pro’ tips you provided were probably worth the cost of the course alone. It was very interesting and inspiring to have an insight to the way a true professional works.”
