Nikon Owner (London Group) meeting

‘A Kenyan Safari’
with David Lloyd, Richard Long
and Antony Blake
Michael Eleftheriades, the organizer of the very successful Nikon Owner London Group would like to invite Nikon Owner subscribers to the next Nikon Owner (London Group) event, ‘A Kenyan Safari’ with award-winning wildlife photographer David Lloyd. The event will be held on Friday, February 8th 2013 at Kensingtonrooms.
The event will include an introduction by Richard Long, with an update on his Kenyan charity and a review of the most recent Nikon Owner trip to Kenya.
David Lloyd will describe his experiences, methods, achievements (touching on the 2011 Wildlife Photographer of the Year annual portfolio cover shot) and his personal philosophies on wildlife photography. David chooses to shoot wildlife images in a fine art style, rather than in a documentary or editorial manner.
The event will conclude with a presentation by the fine art photographer Antony Blake, with examples of his unique approach and shooting technique.
About David Lloyd
David Lloyd is a wildlife photographer from New Zealand living in London, arriving in 1989 for a six-month trip and still resident some twenty years later. Some of David’s favourite places are Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Namibia, Botswana and Richmond Park near his home in London.
David became interested in photography at a young age and has owned a camera since the age of seven. He spent many years developing pictures in darkrooms before the advent of digital, and black and white photography became one of his early passions; a strong interest in natural history and design led to the photographic imagery he enjoys creating today.
Although he has a preference towards black and white, colour also features strongly in his work.
David’s images have been published widely in the press and photographic monthlies, including a recent issue of Black & White Photography Magazine. He has also enjoyed success in major competitions: he was a finalist in the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year on six occasions, European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Natures Best, and a highly commended in the British Wildlife Photographic Awards in its inaugural year.
In 2011, David gained a specially commended award in the Veolia Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition with “A Flick of the Tail”, a black and white image of a giraffe which was also chosen for that year’s annual portfolio cover.
David has more than twenty years of knowledge in digital processing, using both Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom; the latter is his predominant processing tool today.
It promises to be a unique event! Space is limited to 50 seats, so please book your places early to avoid disappointment.
