Two-Day Street Photography Workshop
At The Marylebone Summer Fayre
Sunday, 28th June & Monday, 29th June (optional)
with Michael Eleftheriades & Simon Stafford
Venue: The Hellenic Centre, 16-18 Paddington Street,
London W1U 5AS
Join Michael Eleftheriades and Simon Stafford on an incredible day experiencing The Marylebone Summer Fayre – one of central London’s best summer street festivals, while learning about street photography.
The Marylebone Summer Fayre provides everything you would expect from a traditional village fete, including food from some of London’s finest restaurants and retailers, drink, music, craft stalls, a farmers’ market, street dancing (traditional and contemporary), children’s activities, and a music stage featuring exciting up-and-coming acts, all conducted in a friendly, community spirit.
The base for the two-day workshop will be the Hellenic Centre Boardroom (the venue for Nikon Owner London Group meetings), the main benefit being that it is located just off the main street of the Fayre.
Sunday, 28th June – Photography Day
The day will begin with a presentation on street photography and the opportunities available at the Fayre; you will be provided with a location map and a list of the activities and event times, during which you will be able to consult with your tutors regularly.
As your photographic tutors, Michael Eleftheriades and Simon Stafford will be on-hand throughout the day to offer guidance on capturing ‘the decisive moment’ using composition, light and shadow, action focusing, exposure in challenging conditions, depth of field, lens choice, and possibly the toughest task of all, how to approach and take pictures of people on the street.
At the close of the day, the group will gather once more at the Hellenic Centre, so that everyone has an opportunity to share their experiences. A short presentation will be given on how to prepare your images for the next session if you choose to attend.
Monday, 29th June – Critique & Post-Production Day
The day will begin by viewing your images and selecting your best shots. Michael and Simon will look at the criteria for making this selection and explain what it is that makes particular images unique and special.
In the second part of the day, the presenters will look at the different techniques using Photoshop and Lightroom to post-process and enhance your images so that they really stand out from the rest. They will look at different techniques which involve cropping, white-balance, exposure, the use of colour, black & white conversion, vignetting and the use of creative plug-ins. The day will end with an open discussion on the images that have been chosen and their virtues.

Prerequisite
This is a practical workshop, so delegates must bring a Nikon D-SLR camera and lens(es). Due to the nature of the workshop and the practicalities of shooting in a busy urban environment, including the weight of equipment, we would advise bringing Nikon bodies without battery grips and a few, preferably small, lenses. Attendees will be provided with a check-list of recommended equipment and suitable clothing before the workshop.
Registration
The cost of the two-day workshop will be £355 for current standard Nikon Owner subscribers with a special price of £295 if you are a Nikon Owner Gold subscriber. If you would prefer to attend the first day’s workshop only, the cost will be £245 for current standard Nikon Owner subscribers with a special price of £185 if you are a Gold subscriber.
To register, please email your full name, postal address and postcode, as well as your daytime mobile and landline to Gillian Greenwood: gillian.greenwood@graysofwestminster.co.uk
If you are a current Nikon Owner subscriber, please add your user-name / subscription number to the email.
Only a limited number of places are available for this unique workshop, so please book as soon as you are able to in order to avoid disappointment. If you are not currently a Nikon Owner gold subscriber, in order to receive the discount, you will be able to upgrade your subscription, or re-join Nikon Owner as a gold subscriber if you would like to when we call you to acknowledge your booking registration.
Please note that it is essential that you register by email rather than by telephone.
