London, UK, 17th August 2015: Nikon has won a prestigious accolade in this year’s EISA awards, taking the prize for ‘European Consumer D-SLR Camera 2015-2016’ for its Nikon D5500.
The announcement adds to Nikon’s awards success at this year’s TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) awards, where Nikon won three accolades including ‘Best Entry Level DSLR’ also for the Nikon D5500 and ‘Best Professional D-SLR’ for the Nikon D810.
Simon Iddon, Head of Product Management at Nikon UK, says: “Photographers have praised the Nikon D5500 for its lightweight build, ergonomic design and comfortable use. It’s a superb entry-level camera for individuals aspiring to develop their photography skills further and realise their creative potential. We are thrilled that the camera has had such a great reception and won awards from EISA and TIPA.”
Each year, EISA nominates the best equipment from different categories of audiovisual products released in Europe during the preceding 12 months. It recognises those products that will be appreciated by an enthusiast and professional audience who want high quality and creative features. The awards are chosen by panels representing over 50 prominent photo, video, audio, home theatre and mobile electronics magazines from up to 22 European countries. www.eisa.eu
The EISA judges said: “The Nikon D5500 is a compact, lightweight, but very capable D-SLR with an easy‐to‐handle body. Its 24‐megapixel sensor offers class‐leading image quality, with excellent resolution due to the lack of an optical low‐pass filter, and huge dynamic range especially at low ISO settings. Its 39‐point autofocus system surpasses the competition, particularly when tracking moving subjects. The ergonomic body design provides an unusually comfortable grip for such a small camera, and the fully‐articulating touchscreen swivels and can be used for self‐portraits. With extensive manual controls and built‐in Wi‐Fi, the Nikon D5500 includes everything enthusiast photographers need to make and share superb images.”
